Woman of Achievement Award (WoA)
WoA was established in 1985 and is awarded to a woman who personifies the spirit and humanitarianism of Zonta.
This award is given every two years.
The recipient exhibits commitment through service or advocacy to improve the legal, political, economic, educational, health and professional status of women.
The recipient has not previously been recognised at a State or national level for the work she is currently doing but whose contribution has been significant.
Members of Zonta are not eligible.
The prize of $500 goes towards the winner’s nominated charity.

Recognising Our 2024 Woman of Achievement
To celebrate Zonta’s 105th Anniversary, the Zonta Club of Peel hosted the Area 3 Founders’ Day Lunch in Mandurah on 10 November 2024.
A highlight of the event was the presentation of the Area 3 Woman of Achievement Awards, recognising four outstanding women whose service has made a significant difference in their communities.
- Karen Jetta (nominated by the Zonta Club of Bunbury) – A proud Noongar leader dedicated to education, cultural awareness, Indigenous leadership and community empowerment.
- Merri Harris (nominated by the Zonta Club of Peel) – A healthcare professional and community leader whose contributions span health, local government, agriculture and women’s leadership.
- Sepo Young (nominated by the Zonta Club of Perth) – A mental health clinician and volunteer whose compassionate work supports people experiencing homelessness and promotes dignity and inclusion.
- Brooke Canham (nominated by the Zonta Club of Perth Northern Suburbs) – A passionate disability advocate who has overcome significant challenges to champion inclusion, independence and opportunities for people with Down syndrome.
Presented by Area 3 Director Kimberley Robbins, the awards celebrated four remarkable women whose leadership, resilience and dedication continue to strengthen their communities. Their achievements exemplify the spirit of Zonta and inspire us all.
