FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Our club
welcomes diversity and will be happy to discuss membership with any
prospective member. In the meantime, these FAQs may help you.
WHO
CAN JOIN ZONTA INTERNATIONAL?
Membership
of Zonta clubs is by invitation. It is open to executives or
professionals in recognized businesses, institutions, or professional
occupations based on Zonta classifications. Applicants must be working
at least fifty per cent of a normal week and be willing to support the
objectives of Zonta.
WHAT DOES ZONTA MEAN BY OCCUPATION CLASSIFICATIONS?
A member's
classification is based on occupation. Zonta's classification system
consists of hundreds of occupations. The classification system is
based on an international standard used by every country in the world to
classify occupations in their population census and a composite of many
country lists.
HOW
DO I BECOME A MEMBER IF I BELIEVE I FIT THE ABOVE CRITERIA?
Initially,
after making contact, you will be invited to attend one of our monthly
meetings. It is usual for prospective members to attend a few of these
dinner meetings before either party commits to formal membership. This
allows the prospective member time to meet members of the club and
experience a business meeting and for members to consider whether the person
would meet the membership guidelines.
HOW
MUCH TIME IS INVOLVED?
Members are
expected to attend a dinner meeting and a committee meeting each month,
fundraising events and activities throughout the year, and Area functions
such as an annual workshop and Founders' Day Dinner. Members are
encouraged to attend conferences and conventions.
